KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the port Qasim where four ships carrying containers and chemical were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday, April 6.

Meanwhile two more ships scheduled to load/offload containers and bunker also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy remained at the Port at 54% on Wednesday where a total of six ships namely San Francisco, Orient III, Sam Eagle, ELM Galaxy, Al Deerah and M.V Shinyo Ayush are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, chemicals, diesel oil and coal respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at Port where a cargo volume of 39,768 tonnes, comprising 30,856 tonnes imports and 8,912 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 767 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

Three ships Al Deerah, Shinyo Ayush and San Francisco sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while one more ship M.V Sam Eagle is expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Six ships MSC Natalia, RHL Fiducia, CGM Puget, Upper Courts, Warnow Sun and Al Azizoo scheduled to load/offload containers, iron ore, wheat, and bunkers are expected to take berth at Container Terminal, IOCB Terminal, FAP Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Thursday, April 7.
