Postmortem confirms Justice Javed's parents tortured; funeral prayers offered

LAHORE: The parents of Justice Javed Iqbal were tortured and strangled to death on Tuesday evening between 04:00 pm and 05:00 pm, the initial postmortem report said.

The funeral prayers of Justice Javed Iqbal’s parents were offered at Jamia Masjid Asghari near Kalima Chowk in Lahore on Wednesday. They will be laid to rest in a graveyard near Firdous Market in Gulberg area.

According to the investigation report, the bodies have torture marks. The father of Justice Iqbal DIG (Retd.) Abdul Hameed had a wound on his lip, while his wife Zareena Bibi was found dead with her ribs broken and a wound mark on her chest.

The stomach of Abdul Hameed was full of meal while his wife's was empty. The chemical examiner will issue the final report after 15-20 days, the report concluded.

The parents of Supreme Court judge Justice Javed Iqbal were found murdered on Tuesday night at their Cavalry Ground residence.

However, according to CCPO Lahore Aslam Tarin, the aged couple, identified as DIG (retired) Abdul Hameed and Zareena Bibi, resident of House No. 164, Street No. 7, Cavalry Ground, Lahore, were about to leave their home in a car at around 10:20 pm when two unidentified 'robbers', equipped with sophisticated weapons, barged into their home.
