(Karachi) In a bid to facilitate traders, Sindh government has allowed businesses and shopping malls to open on weekends, media has reported.

As per details, all shops, markets and shopping malls will open on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 5pm. However, the provincial government has asked all businesses to strictly follow SOPs and precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has said that public and private educational institutes in the provinces will remain closed and will not open on June 1.

According to the notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department, the date for reopening schools will be announced keeping in view the Covid-19 situation.

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced to open all markets, except shopping malls for business activity. However, soon after trade activity resumed, the provincial government sealed major markets in different areas of Karachi as traders failed to follow SOPs.

Sindh reported on Friday its highest number of coronavirus deaths in a single day after 31 people lost their lives to the novel virus.

During the past 24 hours, 31 patients lost their battle to the virus. The death toll in Sindh has reached 427 while 308 patients are in critical condition. Besides, 52 are on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,563 people have also recovered from the virus.
