TOKYO: Tokyo stocks pared earlier losses to finish higher Friday following rallies on Wall Street, despite lingering geopolitical concerns after suspected attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index added 0.40 percent or 84.89 points at 21,116.89, while the broader Topix index firmed 0.34 percent or 5.21 points at 1,546.71.
