Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to December 31, 2015. seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 9,279,105 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across country as of December 31 showing a decrease of 33.52cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 1,39,58,447 bales.
According to the 9th fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here on Sunday, Chairman of PCGA Nawab Shehzad Ali Khan briefed the media men about cotton production and said that Out of the total arrivals, 9.279 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 55,74,767 bales recorded decrease of 44.75 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 37,04,338 bales while last year the Sindh received 38,67,760 bales merely 4.23 percent less. Ginneries in Sindh recorded a shortfall of 4.23 percent as compared to corresponding period last year.
Textile mills have bought 72,71,473 bales while exporters bought 3,55,426 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 76,26,899 bales. Multan received 1,25,797 bales 73.58 percent short than last year, Lodhran 90,210 bales 73.40 % short, Khanewal 3,81,099 bales 58.09 percent short, Muzaffargarh 2,48,601 bales a decrease of 48.29 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,88,014 , a decrease of 40.29 Rajanpur 4,04,198 bales, 28.45 percent decrease, Layyah 2,44,213, 35.59 percent less, Vehari 2,99,643 bales 60.66 percent less, Sahiwal 2,42,559 bales 56.61 percent less than last year, Pakpattan 66,478 bales 59.85 percent less, Okara 22,148 - 56.84 percent less,Qasur 11,376 - 46.47% less,Toba Tek Singh 1,31,347 bales, Faisalabad 49,823 bales, Jhang 42,,461 Mianwali 3,02,901, Bhakkar 80,809 Sargodha 11,400, Rahimyar Khan10,53,006 bales 19.97 % decrease, Bahawalpur 6,94,680 ,and Bahawalnagar 7,84,004 bales. In Sindh: Hyderabad 2,48,641 bales 5.40 percent less than last year,Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,72,561, bales 31.28 % less, Sangarh ,13,29,752 bales 10.21 % decrease, Nawabshah 3,12,370 bales, Naushero Feroze 2,82,537 bales, Khairpur 2,61,639,Ghotki 3,09,440, Sukkur 4,30,399,Dadu 35,309, Jamshoro 1,33,000 bales ,Badeen 31,645 bales and Balochistan 57,045 bales. Total 416 ginning factories are operational in the country.Of them 280 in Punjab and 136 in Sindh.Total 16,52,206 bales are lying in ginneries as unsold stock.
