Sindh Assembly to elect Speaker, Deputy Speaker today

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly members in the session scheduled for Wednesday will elect the custodian of the house as well as his deputy through secret balloting.

Provincial Assembly Secretariat here on Tuesday announced to have accepted nomination papers of Siraj Khan Durrani (PPP) and Javed Hanif (MQM) for the post of Speaker.

Rehana Leghari of Pakistan Peoples Party and Rabia Azfar Nizami of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf were said to be contesting for Deputy Speakership of the provincial assembly.

Secretary of Sindh Assembly, GM Umar Farooq in an announcement Tuesday evening said the nomination of all four contenders were accepted after required scrutiny.

Election for the two posts, he said would be done through secret balloting by 165 of the 168 elected members of the house on Wednesday morning.
