Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources, Asghar Ali Junejo, has said that an investigation is in progress in the case pertaining to the sale of flats allocated to labourers in Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Karachi. Speaking at a meeting of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati), he said that a latest system was being introduced at hospitals run by social security in order to control the use of bogus medical cards for availing health services.
He said that the services of security companies were also being acquired to control the illegal activities of mafia and other unscrupulous elements at these hospitals. Junejo alleged that despite the 18th Amendment, the grievances of Sindh had been ignored and the share of Sindh in EOBI welfare fund was being spent on other provinces.
He assured the business community that he would take up the issue of reconstruction and repair of Jam Sadiq Bridge with the Sindh Chief Minister and the Minister for Local Bodies. He said that his ministry would do whatever it can for the betterment and welfare of the labourers within the legal frame work. Replying to a question, he said that about Rs 52 million had been deposited with the Nazir of Sindh High Court for the Baldia Town victims.
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Zahid Hussain said that special industrial zones should be created in Sindh to attract foreign investors and for that purpose an action plan should be prepared by the Ministry of Industries and Human Resources. He further demanded that EOBI and SESSI schemes should be made more effective. Kati President Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui suggested forming of a committee consisting industrialists for the better working of SESSI. He demanded that the hospital established by SESSI at Korangi should be provided with the required facilities.
