Ministry of Power and Water is closely monitoring loadshedding situation across the country and officials claim, ranges between 6-8 hours in best recovery areas on the basis of a shortfall of 3,000MW. "We are generating maximum electricity from all sources and supplying it to the power Distribution Companies (Discos) in accordance with allocated quota and recovery percentage," said an official on Monday.
According to the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), power generation was 12,500MW on Monday at 12pm against officially recognised demand of 15,500 MW. However, unofficially demand is projected at around 17,000MW. Generation from hydel resources was recorded at 4,730MW, thermal 1,670MW and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 6,100MW.
These figures show that the generation from hydel resources has declined by 300 MW if compared with Sunday. Officials say that hydel generation depends on water indents from the provincial governments. Likewise, generation from IPPs recorded at 6,440 MW on Monday against 6,100 MW on Sunday, showing a reduction of 340MW. The NTDC spokesman claimed that 220 KV Guddu-Sibbi & Uch-Guddu circuits was restored after repair.
"We are trying to manage power supply situation to our best level on the basis of available resources," said Zargham Eshaq Khan, Managing Director, Pepco/ Joint Secretary Water and Power Ministry. He said the Ministry of Water and Power arranged Rs 51 billion for Pakistan State Oil (PSO) recently to ensure fuel supply to RFO-fired thermal power stations with Rs 45.7 billion already transferred to the oil supplier whereas the remaining amount is being arranged by the Finance Ministry.
