KARACHI: On Monday, PKR continued to go up against USD in both interbank and open markets going below 155 in both markets. PKR also continued to strengthen against Euro, AED and SR in Pakistan open market. Until writing of this report, USD continued to go up in global currency markets on Monday as investors were pushed towards greenback by cautious market mood, strong US economic indicators and vaccine rollout.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 55 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over last week’s rates closing at 154 and 154.10 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 60 paisas for both buying and selling over last week’s rates closing at 154.10 and 154.60 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained 80 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 180.70 and 182.20 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 20 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 41.80 and 42.10 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 15 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling closing at 40.80 and 41.10 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee witnessed volatile trend as it moved both ways in relation to the American dollar in the local currency market on Monday.

Following fluctuating demand and supply situation in the market, the dollar moved both ways and closed for buying and selling at Rs 154.20 and Rs 155.80 against the previous closing rate of Rs 154.70 and Rs 155.70 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Moreover, the rupee-pound sterling parity stayed unchanged amid sluggish trading activity in the market. Consequently, the pound firmly closed at its opening trend for buying and selling at Rs 211.50 and Rs 213.00 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee further gained strength against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.

The dollar opened at Rs 154.90 (buying) and Rs 155(selling) in the morning session. The rupee continued its upward journey against the dollar and closed at Rs 154.90 (buying) and Rs 155(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 95,700 and Rs 95,500(buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
