imageIndian wrestler Narsingh Yadav has failed in doping test conducted by Indian national anti-doping agency just before the Rio Games about to start in less than two weeks.

Yadav, who won gold medal in commonwealth Games, was selected for next month’s Olympic in the 74-kilogram freestyle category, but tested positive for a banned steroid during routine testing. A subsequent sample known as a B sample was also found to be positive.

“Narsingh was personally present when his B sample was opened,” National Anti-Doping Agency director general Navin Agarwal told the Press Trust of India. "He appeared before a disciplinary panel yesterday Saturday. The panel sought more reports regarding the matter," Agarwal said.

Talking about Rio Olympics, Agarwal said, “It is too early to comment in that regard. We will try to complete the whole thing quickly. I cannot speculate on that.” Indian express reported. Further hearings would be held into the case.

"With the stakes so high, I doubt if Narsingh would have done something as stupid as using a banned substance," said Yadav coach. "One has to look at his history as well. He has been a clean wrestler in his 10-year international career. And the tournament in Spain is insignificant as far as performance is concerned. So why would he dope?”.

The wrestling foundation of India (WFI) believes Narsingh is innocent. Injustice has happened with him and they are hopeful he will get justice. “I will try my level best to help Narsingh get out of this problem so that he can represent India in 74kg in the Olympics and win a medal,” said WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
