The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Development Working Party (AJKDWP) has approved various development schemes worth Rs 2.5 billions.
The DWP in its meeting held here on Friday approved Rs 103.4 millions for the establishment of Information Technology training institute at every district headquarter, Rs 36.2 millions for IT training of government employees, Rs 15.5 millions for computerisation of weapon licenses, Rs 2.7 millions for quick transmission of news in information department.
The Development Working Party meeting presided over by Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Muhammad Abdul Rasheed Khan okayed the scheme of Rs 71.2 millions for the set up of computer labs in the boys and girls schools and intermediate colleges at every district headquarters.
The meeting also approved Rs 349.2 millions under World Food Programme for distribution of edibles at selected places for the growth of primary education across the state.
Under the umbrella development projects, the meeting approved the schemes of Rs 10 millions for data registration completion, Rs 110 millions to cater the timber needs of district Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur and Rs 30.9 millions for reforestation in Neelum and Jhelum valleys.
The schemes for development of agriculture and bioengineering costing Rs 430 millions were referred to cabinet development committee for approval.
For the development of tourism, the DWP approved the scheme of Rs 31.3 millions for the set up of tourism center at Pir Chanasi tourist resort in the capital.
In the health sector, DWP referred the schemes of Rs 57.4 millions for set up of dialysis centers at district headquarters hospitals, Rs 53.7 millions for the set up of drug testing labs in all seven districts of the state to cabinet development committee for approval.
The DWP meeting, which was attended by all the heads of government departments and the representatives of federal government also approved the development schemes worth millions for water supply schemes, construction of small bridges in various areas, sewerage, and consultancy services.
The meeting approved Rs 28.1 millions for revenue department for the payment of compensation to the Indian shelling victims of Neelum, Jhelum and Lipa valleys.
