The government has planned for audit of union council Nazims' funds released during the last fiscal year for development in their respective union councils while the expenditures incurred on VIP's offices uplift are not included in the audit, said sources.
However, the stealth of antiques from the old commissioner house are still questionable when the bureaucracy was controlling and supervising the building but none of valuable articles and antiques could be recovered.
Sources said that the district administration has directed the director local fund audit for in depth probe into development funds released to union council Nazims. The district government released Rs 0.5 million to each union council Nazim for development in their respective areas.
When contacted director local fund audit Rana Khalid Mehmoodul Hassan he was on leave. However, his assistant said the directorate would assess the transparency of spent expenditures.
The district administrations' orders have perturbed a number of Nazims because they had spent the budget on their own discretion by passing the prescribed schedule.
They said the district administration led by ex-Multan DCO and the then acting district Nazim Major Azam Suleman (Rtd) allocated Rs 3 million public fund for utilising on perks, construction of additional rooms and renovation for VIPs and renovation of district council hall, district officer office.
