Japan's customs-cleared imports of corn for animal feed fell 1.4 percent in December from a year earlier to 1,064,782 tonnes, preliminary data from the Ministry of Finance (MOF) showed on Monday.
Imports of soybeans rose in December, but shipments of wheat and meat both fell from a year earlier.
For calendar 2003, imports of corn for animal feed fell by 9.5 percent to 11,011,468 tonnes, MOF said.
Imports of wheat in 2003 also dipped by 10.5 percent from a year earlier to 5,246,121 tonnes.
Imports of soybeans rose by 2.7 percent to 5,172,518 tonnes in 2003, while meat imports rose by 1.9 percent to 2,311,385 tonnes.
