imageDisgraced cricketer Mohammad Amir has appeared in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as the first stepping stone towards his possible return in the national team.

Mohammad Amir proved his talent in the first match of third edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Sunday at Dhaka. Amir, playing for the ‘Chittagong Vikings’ against the ‘Rangpur Riders’, took 4 for 30 on Sunday, delighted to be competing once more against stars such as Pakistan's Test skipper Misbah ul-Haq whom he bowled with a perfect yorker at Dhaka's national stadium.

According to local media report Amir said, “I would like to offer a special thanks to the chairman of the Chittagong Vikings, who has given me this opportunity to prove myself at a platform which would be the envy of many others”.

Fast bowler Amir was jailed for his part in a spot fixing scandal during the 2010 Test series in England and banned from cricket for five years. He pleaded guilty to bowling no-balls at pre-arranged times during Pakistan's fourth Test against England at Lord's in 2010.

In this tournament nearly 50 foreign cricketers, including Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and the West Indies’ Chris Gayle have been participating in the tournament.
