imageLAHORE: The Lahore High Court Wednesday set aside decisions of district delimitation authorities on pleas challenging local government delimitations in several union councils (UCs) of Bhakkar, Gujrat, Gujranawala, Sargodha and Kasur.

The court asked the district delimitation authorities to decide the applications after hearing the stance of the parties and passed a speaking order.

Justice Shahid Karim passed these orders on various petitions filed by Mian Afzal and others challenging the decisions of district delimitation authorities regarding objections against delimitations of union councils.

The petitioners submitted that the district delimitation authorities failed to decide their objections in accordance with laws.

They submitted that the authorities had issued stereotype orders without inspecting sites and seeking reply from respondents.

They contended that the step was in violation of Article 10 of the constitution and section 24 A of General clauses Act 1857 wherein it was mandatory to pass a speaking order in this regard.

They pleaded the court to set aside the decisions being illegal.
