imageKARACHI: The Sindh High Court has directed the Rangers director general to file comments on several petitions seeking whereabouts of missing men said to be detained by the law enforcers.

Petitioners, Hina Muhammad Sanullah and Sharmeen Fawad filed two identical petitions, submitting that their spouses, Muhammad Sanullah and Fawadul Haque were picked up by the unidentified persons from the latter's officer in Phase-II DHA, however, till date there was no clue about them.

They alleged that both were in custody of law enforcement agencies who don't disclose any information about their whereabouts. The court was pleaded to order the law enforcement agencies officers to produce them in court.

Petitioner Haseeb Hassan Imam submitted that his brother Arif Hassan was taken into custody by the police personnel from outside his house in Orangi Town on June 28 and since then his whereabouts were unknown.

Petitioner Noreen Arif submitted that her husband Arif had gone out to buy groceries but did not return home. She quoted area residents as saying that her husband was picked up by the Rangers personnel. She said she was clueless about whereabouts of her husband as Rangers officer were not providing any information about him.

Petitioner Hifza Raza said that paramilitary troops picked up whisked away her husband Syed Muhammad Raza, his driver, two employees and brother-in-law Javaid. Later Rangers personnel released the driver and two employees but her husband and brother-in-law were still in their custody, she added.

She prayed the court to direct the paramilitary force to produce them in court.
