The Turkish Ambassador is a huge fan of Aamir Khan and has invited him to shoot his next film ‘Dangal' in Turkey.
Bollywood movies like ‘Zindagi na milegi dobara’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne do’ have put Spain on the map as a travel destination. Now it’s time for Turkey.
According to Mumbai Mirror report, "The Turkish Ambassador is a huge fan of Aamir and when he was in Mumbai recently, he met the actor and extended an invitation to shoot his film there. He's promised the unit full co-operation from the local authorities," informs the actor-producer's spokesperson, adding that wrestling has been popular in Turkey since the 10th century and even today, matches are held all over the Eurasian country.
In the movie ‘Dangal’, Aamir plays the character of a retired ageing wrestler turned coach named Mahavir Phogat who coached his two daughters in the sport. Geeta Phogat, was India's first female wrestler to win gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games while Babita Kumari took home the silver.
Every summer there's a three-day carnival in Kirkpinat and a winner is crowned 'Baspahelivan' or the 'Chief Wrestler' of Turkey. "There are a lot of wrestling arenas in Turkey which makes it an appropriate destination for the shoot," adds the spokesperson. And Dangal, in all probability, may kickstart in Turkey.
The versatile actor who recently has gained 20 kg of weight to get into the character is overlooking the casting of four female wrestlers in the film, “But no female lead has been signed yet”, says the spokes person.
