imageLAHORE: German consultant and a delegation of Chinese company, Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC), working on the project of mineral resources in Chiniot-Rajwa called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Thursday.

Speedy progress on the project of mineral resources in Chiniot-Rajwa was agreed in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said discovery of iron ore, copper and gold reserves in Chiniot-Rajwa was a very happy news for 18 crore people of the country, adding that these reserves were more precious than oil and gas and this great project would change the destiny of the country.

The Chief Minister said mineral resources in Chiniot- Rajwa were property of 18 crore people of Pakistan. He said the Punjab government had launched this project from its own resources and in a short period an important progress had been made on the project, adding "We have to march forward expeditiously with regard to this project."

He said interest shown by Chinese company in setting up a steel mill in Chiniot-Rajwa was a good omen, adding that the project of setting up of a steel mill through indigenous iron would provide jobs to local people.

He said the project of mineral resources had revolutionary importance

for economy of the country particularly Punjab and after its completion, national economy will strengthen. He expressed hope that these hidden reserves would prove a guarantee to development of the country and the nation.

The Chief Minister said there were vast mineral reserves in Chiniot-Rajwa and the international laboratories certified their high quality, adding that the destiny of the nation and the country would be changed by utilizing these reserves.

He vowed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan would be made a developed and prosperous country by utilizing these hidden reserves and the country would achieve a dignified status in the international community.

He said the Punjab government started this project from its own resources and the contract was awarded to the renowned Chinese company Metallurgical Corporation of China through a tendering process in a very transparent manner and the hard work borne fruit within a record period of ten months and precious reserves had been certified.

Shahbaz Sharif said according to the experts, these mineral reserves were of billions or trillions dollar which is a great gift for Pakistani nation by Almighty Allah.

He said this project would prove to be a game changer as during the exploration of iron ore, copper and gold had also been discovered from here.

The Chief Minister appreciated the performance of Provincial Minister for Minerals Sher Ali Khan, Chairman Punjab Mineral Development Company Dr.Samar Mubarik Mand and Secretary Minerals Dr Arshad who had worked day and night due to which the entire nation had received such a big news.

He also appreciated the performance of German consultant and Chinese company working on the project.

Members of the Chinese delegation speaking on the occasion said that under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, successes were being achieved in mineral resources project.

They said that efforts would be made to complete the feasibility report at the earliest.

Provincial Minister for Minerals Sher Ali Khan, Chairman Punjab Minerals Development Company Dr Samar Mubarik Mand, Secretary Minerals Dr Arshad, Chief Economist Metallurgical Corporation of China Zhang Mengxing, Chairman MCC Mining Limited Zou Jianhui and besides other officials, German consultant Dr Jurgen Hartsh were also present.
