image‘Friends’ actress Jennifer Aniston will receive the ‘Montecito Award’ at the 2015 ‘Santa Barbara International Film Festival’ (SBIFF) for her performance in her latest film ‘Cake’.

‘Montecito Award’ has been presented annually since 2005 to a performer who has given a series of classic and standout performances throughout his or her career and whose style has made a major contribution to film. The ‘Emmy’ winner Jennifer Aniston has received a ‘Golden Globe’ nomination for best actress for her portrayal of an acerbic woman who becomes fascinated by the suicide of a woman in her chronic-pain. She plays a mother in pain over the loss of her child, who struggles as she drives away her friends and husband.

According to media reports SBIFF executive director Roger Durling said in a statement, “When that happens it is cause for celebration and this is why the 2015 ‘Montecito Award’ is bestowed upon Ms Aniston”.

Previous recipients of the ‘Montecito Award’ include Oprah Winfrey, Daniel Day- Lewis, Geoffrey Rush, Julianne Moore, Kate Winslet, Javier Bardem, Naomi Watts and Annette Bening.

The tribute will take place on Friday, January 30 at the historic ‘Arlington Theatre’ as part of the festival’s 30th edition.
