Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' becomes Bollywood's highest grossing movie of all-time
Indian megastar Aamir Khan has once again delivered a super hit movie in form of a wrestling drama. Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' has crossed Rs 600 crore worldwide, becoming the highest grossing Bollywood movie of all-time.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie is based on the true story of wrestling champions Geeta and Babita Phogat, sisters who achieved firsts for Indian wrestling at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games. After raking in more than $50m in box office collections in three weeks, Dangal is still running successfully in theaters across the globe.
Bollywood film critics and celebrities have been praising the movie ever since it got released. "It's a marvellous thing that it has done so well because its not a traditional Bollywood film," said Anupama Chopra, a film critic and author of several books on the industry. Director Karan Johar tweeted, "Just saw Dangal, havent seen a better film in a decade speechless!!!!".
Dangal has beaten PK, Sultan and Bajrangi Bhaijaan to become highest grossing movie of Bollywood.
