imageOscar-winning director Francis Ford Coppola said he never intended to make another ‘Godfather’ in fact ‘Godfather’ was an accident.

According to media reports legend director Coppola said, “Godfather was a metaphor for America and The Godfather happened to be far more successful than anyone had imagined”.

“People at Paramount went crazy about how successful it was. They told me if you have the formula for Coca-Cola, won't you make more Coca-Cola? I really did not want to make the second film but then I thought it would be interesting to tell the story of father and son at the same age”, he added.

Director also revealed that he revisited the story again after getting in a ‘terrible financial predicament’ but the director has no regret. He wanted to name the ‘Godfather’ sequel ‘Death of Michael Corleone’ but this was not acceptable to Paramount Picture.

Coppola talked about the future of cinema during the seminar at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2014."All cinemas are after all a fusion of technology and art form. When technology changed, art changed too. There will no longer be any distinction between cinema and TV, going forward. Today, all theatres are electronic; no film can get delivered now. Very soon it will be done with satellite and the audience will be the master of the situation; there won't be any Paramount, MGM any more. It will be Netflix, Facebook in the future”, media reported.

Coppola has won three Academy Awards for ‘Godfather II’.
