Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 172,341 tonnes of cargo comprising 93,243 tonnes of import cargo and 79,098 tonnes of export cargo including 8,401 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The Karachi Port handled 172,341 tonnes of cargo comprising 93,243 tonnes of import cargo and 79,098 tonnes of export cargo including 8,401 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 93,243 tonnes comprised of 49,912 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,320 tonnes of DPA; 4,302 tonnes of palm kernel and 26,509 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 79,098 tonnes comprised of 58,521 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,032 tonnes of bulk cargo; 18,795 tonnes of clinker and 750 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,401 containers comprising of 3,702 containers of import and 4,699 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,230 of 20's and 1,008 of 40's loaded while 246 of 20's and 105 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,375 of 20's and 1,149 of 40's loaded containers while 452 of 20's and 1,025 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Cosco Japan, Ningbo Express, MT Karachi and BBC Diamond carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Folegandros, Gulf Crystal, Chem Trader, Al Mahboobah and Hai Yang Di Zhi Jui Hao carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and Survey V/L respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 195,429 tonnes comprising 181,103 tonnes of import cargo and 14,326 tonnes of export cargo including 4,711 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 181,103 tonnes includes 25,565 tonnes of LNG; 2,008 tonnes of palm kernel; 7,000 tonnes of soyabean; 64,000 tonnes of coal; 7,347 tonnes of mogas and 75,183 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 14,326 tonnes includes 14,326 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,711 containers comprising of 3,957 containers import and 754 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely Lusail and Chentrans Arctic carrying LNG and mogas respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Kinloss and Amis Kelon carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LNG, palm kernel and mogas respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eleven vessels viz. Glovis Corona, Seagulf, Qifu, Jia Yuf, IVS Hirona, Row Wayton Eagle, Adventurer, Adriana Rose, Gas Shante, Nordic Adristan and Al-Salam carrying Roro, coal, soyabean, canola, LNG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Glovis Corona, Qifu, IVS Hirona, Gas Shante and Al-Salam carrying Roro, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There are three ships namely Kyoto Express, MOL Grandeur and Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
