The Karachi Port handled 222,090 tonnes of cargo comprising 164,921 tonnes of import cargo and 57,169 tonnes of export cargo including 4,257 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 164,921 tonnes comprised of 35,470 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,043 tonnes of bulk cargo; 17,070 tonnes of DPA; 17,481 tonnes of rock phosphate and 79,857 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 57,169 tonnes comprised of 33,161 tonnes of containerised cargo; 724 tonnes of bulk cargo; 9,430 tonnes of clinker and 15,854 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,257 containers comprising of 1,801 containers import and 2,456 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 940 of 20's and 373 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 57 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 945 of 20's and 372 of 40's loaded containers while 297 of 20's and 235 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Northern Dedication, Seaspan Melbourne, MT Quetta, Peace Worth, Baltic Leopard, Koushun, SSI Triumph, Sunray and Athos carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, DAP, clinkers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eleven vessels viz. Hyundai New York, Kota Gunawan, Indian Express, Seaspan Melbourne, Sofia, Vinalines Galaxy, Chem Altamira, Navig8 Ammolite, Ping An Song, Hanne Danica and Msxi Artemis carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 113,982 tonnes comprising 94,385 tonnes of import cargo and 19,597 tonnes of export cargo including 1,287 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 94,385 tonnes includes 66,911 tonnes of coal; 1,500 tonnes of LPG; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 9,635 tonnes of soyabean; 3,000 tonnes of chemical and 5,339 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 19,597 tonnes includes 483 tonnes of project cargo and 19,114 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,287 containers comprising of 281 containers import and 1,006 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely GS Avenue and JBU Onyx carrying chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Gas Shante and The Odosia carrying LPG and mogas respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, LPG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Northern Julie, MSC Namibia, Sirocco, Sakazia, IVS Phoenix, Sam wolf, Onaiza, Nord Nepton and Khairpore carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LNG, mogas and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. Northern Julie, MSC Namibia, Smiley Lady, IVS Phoenix, SSI Triumph, Onaiza and Khairpore carrying containers, coal, clinker, LNG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.

There were two ships namely Smiley Lady and SSI Triumph carrying containers and clinker respectively due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely Maersk Denver and MSC Tomoko carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
