Published August 29, 2019

Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been ruled out of further participation in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ongoing pre-season training camp after being diagnosed with dengue fever.

As per reports, Afridi who was participating in the fitness camp being conducted at the Gaddafi Stadium under the supervision of former captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been shifted to a hospital in Lahore.

Some twenty players are participating at the PCBs 17-day conditioning camp that began on 22 August and run until 7 September.

The players are undergoing extensive fielding drills and net sessions, along with fitness and other cricketing activities. Meanwhile, opening batsman Fakhar Zaman is yet to resume his training at the camp due to an injury in his right knee for which he underwent an MRI yesterday.

The drills are part of PCB’s plan to prepare the players for the upcoming domestic and international cricket season. The first test of the national cricket team is likely to be the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and T20I series against Sri Lanka. The much anticipated home series will be played in Karachi and Lahore from September 27.
