In a country with a total population of 200 million people, more than 50% of individuals in Pakistan don't have access to basic primary healthcare services, and approximately 42% fail to receive health coverage. Despite the thousands of doctors being produced every year, the country’s doctor-patient ratio remains 1 for every 1200 patients. In this day and age, where science and technology are rapidly growing and evolving, Pakistan’s need for adequate health services can only be met by creating innovations that integrate health and technology.

Sehat Kahani is a health tech social enterprise that aims to democratize health care for all; using a network of qualified and previous untapped network of female doctors utilizing telemedicine. With a previous track record of serving more than 90,000 patients in 24 low income communities across Pakistan through its E - clinics via its network of 1500 female doctors, Sehat Kahani has now ventured into mobile Telemedicine care for the masses as a step to make healthcare accessible to all. This leads to the launch of the Sehat Kahani Mobile health Application on 29th April 2019 at Nest I/O Karachi, in collaboration with Pakistan’s leading Tech Company, 10Pearls.

The main features of the application allow a patient to record their health history, chat or conduct an audio/video consultation with an available network of qualified doctors and obtain a prescription as well as the facility of at home pharmacy delivery and lab tests to increase convenience for people who work hard to make ends meet for their families.

Sehat Kahani application in its initial phase is focused on a B2B2C market, providing efficient healthcare to corporate consumers with a retail version of the application for mass market to be available shortly.

The launch event was attended by delegates from leading corporates, pharmaceuticals, telecoms, insurance, banks as well as, social media influencers and Sehat Kahani’s Karachi-based network of doctors, who were all in awe of the new initiative.

During the event, Dr. Sara Saeed Khurram (CEO & CoFounder, Sehat Kahani) stressed on the need and urgency of a quality digital healthcare platform in Pakistan that can be used by patients nationally and globally. She expressed her gratitude towards 10Pearls for coming in a key strategic partner investing in technology development enabling Sehat Kahani to scale forward and impact many more lives. She also paid gratitude to their partners; 10Pearls, Unilever, Adamjee Life Insurance, Kidco, PharmEvo, and Jazz Cash (payment gateway partner) for joining in this new initiative to make healthcare accessible for a unique market of consumers. She also urged other partners in the corporate sector to come forward and help creating better health opportunities for their employees and consumers.

Dr. Iffat Zafar Aga (COO & CoFounder, Sehat Kahani) stated, “This is an honest effort from the Sehat Kahani team to solve an urgent healthcare need for many. As the usability enhances, this application will undergo many iterations to include new features as the possibilities in digital healthcare are endless but we are excited to embark on this ambitious journey with 10 pearls. This will definitely enable the company to go a long way in creating a positive change in patients’ lives.”

Mr. Zeeshan Aftab (CoFounder & Managing Director, 10Pearls), who also expressed his views, “We have been working in Healthcare Technology and saw the need for a platform to improve accessibility and affordability of doctors in Pakistan.
