BUDAPEST: Hungary's industrial output rose by an annual 5.9 percent in February based on preliminary unadjusted data, above analyst forecasts, up from a 4.4 percent year-on-year growth in January, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a 5.1 percent expansion. The KSH said most segments of the manufacturing sector contributed to growth.
Output growth in car manufacturing, which has the biggest weight overall, as well as in the production of computers, electronic and optical goods accelerated, the KSH said.
The production of food, beverages and tobacco products increased in line with growth in total industrial output, the KSH said.
