PSL Eliminator: Kings to lock horns with United for survival
Karachi Kings would lock horns with the Islamabad United in a do or die match tonight (Thursday) at the first eliminator of Pakistan Super League (PSL) fourth edition at Karachi National Stadium.
On paper Karachi Kings are a side rising in confidence but lack in consistency, the side would sure enjoy the advantage of a home crowd. However, it is up to the side to make the full use of it, as they would be no other chance in this season.
The Kings despite boosting the likes of world’s number one T20 batsman in Babar Azam, and the second best in the world in Colin Munro have so far yet to showcase their skills, and this crunch situation might be the best time.
The Kings batting success has so far revolved around South Africa’s Colin Ingram, who is this tournament’s second highest scorer only behind Quetta Gladiators’ Shane Watson and Liam Livingstone in the middle order.
Coming to the bowling artillery Mohammad Amir has fortunately gained the sharpness at the right time for his franchise but it has been youngster Umer Khan who has been the most impressive with his spin. Speedster Usman Shinwari, has the ability to bruise ay batting line but would need to check on his economic rate.
Talking about two time champions Islamabad United, who has all the experience to tackle from this eliminator situation. Their trump card however, is all rounder Faheem Ashraf, who has emerged out of nowhere as one of the deadliest bowlers in the tournament.
Ashraf is the second highest wicket-taker this season behind Peshawar Zalmi’s Hasan Ali, with 19 wickets. He demolished Lahore Qalandars with a record setting figures of 6-19 in United last encounter.
Coming to the batting line the arrival of English blaster Alex Hales would surely revitalize the United’s arsenal. However, much would still rest on the shoulders of Kiwi superstar Luke Ronchi, who remains United most successful batsman this season as well.
