LONDON: Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Overseas Pakistanis, Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari has said that Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) government would revamp the national institutions, besides strengthening them for the better services delivery to the people of Pakistan.

"We want to revamp the institutions and strengthen them which were weakened by the past successive governments due to weak and poor policies leading to moral decay of the institutions", he told a group of Pakistani media here the other day.

He added that  the institutions in the country need revamping including  National Accountability Bureau  (NAB) for the betterment of the country.

Replying to a question, he was hopeful that inquiry in his case in NAB would soon be winded up and whatever requirements needed in this regard would be provided.

Zulfi Bukhari while welcoming the resumption of flights services of British Airways  to Pakistan after a hiatus of ten years said its was a good omen for Pakistan.

He added one more airlines would resume its flights operations in Pakistan soon,followed by more international airlines in near future.

He added that the International airlines not only bring investments  and job opportunities in the country but also help boost connectivity of the country with other nations.

The Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis said that it was the top priority of the PTI government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan to resolve the problems being faced by the overseas Pakistan as they play an important role in the development of their motherland.

Zulfi Bukhari on the occasion told the media that he was going to revive the redundant "Overseas Advisory Council" with 150 members.

"I am going to revive it by reducing its number from 150 members to only 50 members to be selected purely on merit basis", he said.

He added that for the selection of the candidates CVs would be collected  through widely published advertisements in the newspapers.

The selection in the Overseas Advisory board would be made purely on the basis of merit and density of population of overseas across the globe.

He added that policies and terms of reference for the board members are being made.

He added that he would revive sick investment  projects of the overseas Pakistanis and ensure that the children of overseas Pakistanis should be enrolled in institutions established for them.

He said that for the first time he had introduced Bio-metric system in his ministry that how many labourers from Pakistan went abroad and how many of them have returned in the country.

Zulfi Bukhari said that overseas Pakistanis' complaints regarding mobile phones are genuine   and justified and assured that he would try to make the registration of mobile phones process easier,"."There is no tax on mobile phones for personal use, and he taken notice of the queues at the airport for mobile registration and trying to make it easier for the overseas Pakistanis at the airports.

He told the media that he himself is an overseas Pakistani and know the problems being faced by them.

He said that he was not only the Special Assistant for Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis for PTI but for entire overseas Pakistanis irrespective of their political affiliations and ready to serve them all.

"I am Prime Minister's Special Assistant for all overseas Pakistanis", he remarked.
