LAHORE: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Thursday visited bureau's Lahore office and reviewed progress in mega corruption cases.
Director General NAB Lahore briefed the Chairman about overall performance of NAB Lahore and latest progress on under probe Complaint Verifications (CV), Inquiries and Investigations.
The Chairman NAB also reviewed the latest progress in the ongoing mega-corruption cases including 56 Companies Case, Paragon City Scandal Case, and corruption in Punjab Police Funds Case.
Talking on the occasion, the Chairman said that NAB was committed to make "corruption free Pakistan" whereas, topmost priority of the bureau was to eradicate the menace of corruption from the society.
The Chairman NAB directed all the officers concerned to take necessary steps as per law to conclude all mega corruption cases on merit.
He said that NAB does not believe in media trial of any of the accused.
He urged the media to verify all news stories related to NAB, before airing or publishing, from the designated spokesman of the bureau and kindly avoid speculations which could affect the official proceedings of a case.
He said that NAB acts only after getting concrete evidence as per law.
While reviewing facilities being provided to under trial prisoners in NAB lockup, he said the inmates were being provided facilities in light of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
