ISLAMABAD: Chairman Prime Minister Task Force on IT and Telecom, Federal Minister, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddqui Thursday constituted three separate sub committees for IT, Telecom and Human Resource Development in consultation with members of the Task Force.

It was decided during the first meeting of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Information Technology and Telecom, held under the chairmanship of Minister for IT & Telecom Khalid Maqbool Siidqui here.

The minister said that these committees would give their recommendations to boost the IT and Telecom sector in the country. He said that a series of recommendations would come regarding improvement in IT and Telecom sectors.

He said that previous successive governments did not pay attention towards IT and Telecom sectors therefore our youth could not properly benefit through this sector adding that after the suggestions of Task Force it had been decided to properly make this sector as industry.

The minister said in the light of recommendations by the Task Force, the Ministry of IT would announce IT policy in the beginning of year 2019 and ministry would also ensure implementation of that policy.

He said that it is necessary to provide international standards education to the students to make them best IT graduates.

He said ambassadors of IT would be sent across the globe to get maximum benefits from foreign expertise and bringing more investment in the fields of IT and Telecom.

He expressed the need to make the country digitalized with our people, adding that the government was committed to boost up the IT sector.

On the occasion, Co-Chairman Dr Atta ur Rehman, said that IT and Telecom was lucrative and revenue generating business in the world and this sector needs to be improved in the country.

He said that long and short term polices for IT industry have to be formulated to meet the international standards.

He said members of the Task Force on IT & Telecom were not only seasoned professionals but had actively advocated in the past for the challenges faced by the technology and telecom stakeholders of Pakistan.
