KARACHI: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Fazal-ur-Rehman Thursday held a joint meeting of the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), Local Government Department, KWSB and SBCA here at the CM House.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Environment and Coastal Development Mukhtiar Soomro, Secretary to CM Hafeez Umrani, Secretary Local Government Khalid Hyder Shah, MD KWSB Khalid Shaikh, DG Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Iftikhar Qaimkhani, Chairman ABAD M. The ABAD representatives told the CM Sindh that over 400 NOC applications to launch projects were pending with water board for many months.

The MD Water Board Khalid Shaikh said that when water was not available in the system how he could they issue NOCs for new water connections.

He added that the Water board would start issuing NOCs when K-IV, a bulk water supply project, would be completed.

He also quoted a Supreme Court decision under which he could not issue NOCs until and unless more water is provided to Karachi.

The chief minister constituted a four-member committee, two members from ABAD and one from KWSB and other one from SBCA, to sit together and settle the issue and report him.
