KARACHI: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) seized 180 kg white crystal heroin from hidden compartments of a boat in open sea. Fourteen smugglers were also arrested from the boat.

Director General, PMSA Rear Admiral Zaka-ur-Rehman addressing a news conference here on Friday said that international market value of the narcotics is Rs 1800 million.

The narcotics and smugglers were handed over to Pakistan Customs for further legal action.

PMSA being the law enforcement agency in Pakistan Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) maintains its permanent presence at sea with its ships and aircraft against possible illegal activities, he said.

Successful operation by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency resulting seizure of huge quantity of narcotics is a testament to the fact that Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency are vigilant and committed in preventing use of Pakistani waters for any unlawful activity through sea routs, he added.
