NEW YORK: US stock markets rang out 2013's final session on Tuesday with new records, capping a year that saw the S&P 500 add more than 30 percent.
At the close of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 72.37 points (0.44 percent) for the day at 16,576.66.
The S&P 500 gained 7.29 (0.40 percent) at 1,848.36, while the Nasdaq Composite hit its own high for the year, rising 22.39 (0.54 percent) to 4,176.59.
