Ali-Akbar-SalehiTEHRAN: Iran will host a ministerial meeting of the Planning Council of 10-nation Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on May 17 in Tehran, IRNA news agency reported.

Seyyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi, head of Iran Foreign Ministry's international economic cooperation bureau said Iran Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi will deliver the inauguration speech at the three-day ECO meeting to be attended by ministers and deputies of member states.

ECO was set up in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation among member states.

It was expanded in 1992 to include seven new members including Afghanistan and Azerbaijan.
