imageISLAMABAD: Pakistan judo team will feature in the World Judo Championships 2014, scheduled to be held in Chelyabinsk, Russia from August 25 to 31.

Pakistan judokas failed to show outstanding performance in the last World Championship, but Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) Secretary Masood Ahmad is optimistic that this time the results would be different. "We are yet to select team for the event team, but we are trying our best to send a strong outfit," he said.

He said participation in the International Judo Federation's (IJF) event would be a great achievement and honour for Pakistan. "The participation in the event will help flourish popularize the game in the country," he said.

Ahmed said that the top coaches were supervising the training camps adding that the team would be announced after final trials. He informed that the national women judokas would visit India for training with the Indian judo team in order to further polish their talent.

"Pakistan's women players will visit India in order to improve their performance. And this step is taken to make them more confident and perfect," he added.
