KARACHI: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Karachi division workers, in a meeting presided by General Secretary Syed Najmi Alam reviewed arrangements for the party's forthcoming grand public gathering scheduled for April 26 at Kakri Ground, Lyari.
It was observed that Lyari, the party's strong hold in the metropolis had always been a strong base and therefore the preparations for local bodies election in the metropolis shall commence from the area inhabited by committed workers of the party.
The pre-public gathering meeting was attended by Saeed Chawla, Mirza Maqbool, Haji Qasam Baloch, Raja Abdul Razzaque Baloch, advocate Zafar Siddiqui, Nadeem Bhutto, Abid Satti, PPP Karachi Division Information Secretary Abdul Lateef Mughal, Deputy Information Secretary Syed Manzoor Abbas, Siddique Akbar, Ejaz Baloch, Imtiaz Khan, Shehzad Mazari, Mir Abbas Talpur, Afzal Ahmed, Ali Shad, Iqbal Sand, Mushtaque Mattoo and Muhammad Yousuf.
It was unanimously decided that PPP Karachi division would be sole body to hoist party banners, bunting, billboards and other public awareness stuff across the city.
Participants on the occasion agreed to constitute a committee headed by Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister Waqar Mehdi to ensure optimum participation of Lyariites as well as party supporters from other parts of the metropolis in the programme.
PPP Karachi division's Information Secretary Abdul Lateef Mughal, Deputy Information Secretary Syed Manzoor Abbas and PPP district level information secretaries were announced as its members.
The meeting also decided that PPP district South workers would be responsible for arrangements at the venue while Aslam Samoo would head a committee for controlling the vehicular and traffic movement around the venue, that is Kakri Ground.
It was also decided that PPP workers belonging to the PPP city areas will hold special corner meetings across the metropolis so as to mark soft inception of electioneering campaigns in Karachi.
Senior members of the party were assigned the responsibility to supervise the exercise.
The meeting also decided to set up reception camps in every nook and corner of Karachi while the main reception camp would be set up at the venue of public gathering.
Meanwhile, with the motive to streamline preparations of the grand meeting itself the PPP office bearers, including PPP City Area Presidents, General Secretaries and Information secretaries agreed to meet at Kakri Ground on April 17 so as to avoid any confusion during the main event.
