imageLAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the government had fixed the release price of wheat to flour mills at Rs 1330 per 40 kg.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that a 20 kg flour bag would be available in the market at Rs 785. He said that 3.4 million metric ton wheat would be released and the government would give a subsidy of Rs 18 billion on it.

He said that the subsidy would be given to ensure the availability of flour in market at reasonable rates besides stablizing its price in the market.

He said the Punjab government had 39,46000 metric tonnes of wheat in stock and approximately 0.5 million metric tonnes of wheat was surplus. Rana Sanaullah said the food department had formulated a strategy to ensure the quality of flour. "Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided in the meeting to provide subsidy to poor people under the head of Sasta Ata and Sasti Roti. A committee has been constituted in this regard," he added.

He said the government with the cooperation of industry owners would try to provide flour at a reasonable price to workers. To a question, He said the government was committed to eliminating electricity loadshedding, terrorism and was making sincere efforts for it.

Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed while responding a question said the federal government was already giving subsidy on fertiliser and Rs 14 to 15 billion had been set aside in the budget for the provision of subsidy on it.

He said the government was launching a tractor scheme for small farmers. Responding to a query, Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen said the food department had not received much complaints against the quality of flour, adding that the CM had directed to monitor mills providing substandard flour.
