LONDON: The growth-linked Australian dollar rose to a two-week high against the US dollar on Wednesday, with sentiment towards riskier assets bolstered by a deal to avoid the US "fiscal cliff".
The Aussie was up nearly 1 percent on the day to hit a two-week high of $1.0499 with reported option barriers at $1.0500 looking vulnerable.
The Aussie also hit its highest in more than four years against the Japanese yen, having risen to 91.54 yen.
