PESHAWAR: At least five persons including Superintendent Police, Investigation were killed and 25 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near Khan Raziq Police Station in Qissa Khwani Bazaar here on Wednesday.
According to Superintendent Police City, Asif Iqbal it was a suicide attack in which the bomber blew up his explosive filled jacket near the vehicle of SP Investigation, Hilal Haider. The explosion caused instant death to SP Investigation, his driver, gunman and two others.
The severe blast also caused injuries to 25 people in the vicinity. The vehicle of the SP Investigation was totally destroyed in the blast.
DIG, Bomb Disposal Sqaud, Shafqat Malik also confirmed the blast as suicide attack and said that 6 to 7 kilograms explosives were used in the attack.
The injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital where condition of some was stated to be critical. Many of the shops, buildings and vehicles were badly damaged as result of the blast. The bang of the blast was heard far and wide.
The law enforcers cordoned off the area and started investigations to find out the involved perpetrators.
