ISLAMABAD: At least sixteen persons were killed and several others were hurt on Friday when unknown gunmen opened fire at a petrol pump in Khuzdar that ignited the fuel station and a passenger van standing close by.
According to police, some unidentified gunmen opened fire at a petrol pump due to which the station caught fire that also engulfed a passenger van nearby, a private news channel reported.
As a result, sixteen persons including a child and a woman were killed while several others were hurt.
Police told that efforts are underway to rescue the victims of the passenger van while the fire has been tamed.
On the contrary, when the DPO was contacted, he told that no one was injured in the incident. He also told that the fire has been brought under control.
`At least four shops were burnt in the fire and we are evaluating the cause of the fire. We cannot confirm if there was firing at the petrol pump,' said the DPO.
