karbalaKader Khan’s film titled “Karbala” has displeased many, even though the film has yet to be release. The movie is said to center around the sacred topic of the historical sacrifice made by Muslims to protect their religion in the land of Karbala. The event is of great significance in Muslim traditions.

The film has agitated the Lucknow-based All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) which has urged the Centre to impose a ban on the making of such a film.

"Both the Sunnis and the Shias are united in their hurt at this attempt by Bollywood to depict the Karbala massacre on the big screen. I have been getting letters from all over the world, asking us to do something about this film. Nobody is okay with Kader Khan's attempt,” a Spokesperson for the AISPLB said.

"We have even written to the Mumbai police commissioner, asking him to take steps against the film's eventual screening. We will use all measures necessary to stop the film," he added.

AISPLB has written a letter to the Prime Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister, appealing them to stop its production keeping in view the sentiments of Muslims.

AISPLB representatives have also announced to stage a protest outside the Vidhan Sabha, where an effigy of Kader Khan will be burned.
