national-assembly 400ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed Friday that there will be more incentives for investment in the country in the Auto sector.

The Advisor on Industries Muhammad Basharat Raja told the house during question hour that the government is considering giving more incentives for investment in manufacturing of cars in the country to meet the requirements.

He said talks were held with delegations of Korean Company and General Motors and hoped for positive results.

He said presently one hundred and fifty thousand cars are being manufactured in the country and fifty thousand are being imported annually which are not sufficient to meet requirements.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Interior Ch. Imtiaz Safdar Warraich told the House that public transport fares have been reduced in the Federal Capital following the reduction in oil and gas prices and notification to this effect has been issued.

He was responding to a call attention notice by Nosheen Saeed and others regarding charging high fares from commuters instead of new fares by the transporters in Islamabad.

The Minister of State for Interior said checking is being carried out and action is being taken against those charging high fares. He said in this connection twenty-eight vehicles have been challaned in two weeks.

He said Punjab government and Rawalpindi Transport Authority is responsible to check public transport routes from Rawalpindi to Islamabad.
