KARACHI: Last week marked America's 236th birthday, as well as milestones for Tom Cruise (50), Malia Obama (14), The Situation (30) and Lindsay Lohan (26). Also celebrating his ‘special day’ was multitalented Rapper, Actor, Entrepreneur and Record Producer 50 Cent.

At Friday’s celebration the artist gave himself and his fans the gift of music when he dropped 5 (Murder by Numbers), his 10-track unofficial album music for free on his website ThisIs50.com.

"What I'm releasing right now is a part of me wanting music out during the middle of the summer," Cent told the media. "I had a plan for myself: I wanted to have the new record come out during my birthday."

The 36-year-old `In Da Club` hitmaker has made the release available for download online, completely free of charge.

In a series of Twitter posts, he writes, "You can`t buy album 5 it`s Free. Street king immortal will be for sale. The full CD will be out on my birthday."

5 (Murder By Numbers) was the root of conflict between 50 Cent and his Interscope record label, who apparently did not want to support the project as a release. 50 Cent decided instead to skirt the label, and release it anyway, without Interscope’s support, as a free album. The next official album release, necessary for 50 Cent to fulfill his contract with Interscope is slated to be released in November, tentatively entitled Street King Immortal.

Cent has recently made a full recovery after being treated for minor neck and back injuries in a New York hospital in June following a major car accident.
