national-assembly 400ISLAMABAD, June 14 (APP): The National Assembly Thursday approved 151 demands for grants of 40 ministries and departments amounting to Rs 2,077,644,405,000 amidst uproar by the opposition members.

Minister for Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and Minister for Textile Industry Makhdoom Shahabuddin moved the demands, which were approved by the members with majority voice vote.

After winding up discussion, the House completed first stage of the budget passage by putting all demands for grants to voting to meet expenditures of various ministries and divisions during the fiscal year 2012-13.

The NA approved all demands in one sitting prior to the prayer break that followed the process to approve supplementary grants for various ministries.

The approval of the demands went smooth as the opposition had withdrawn all of its cut motions to slash the proposed budget of particular ministry or department.

Engaged in sloganeering, the opposition members also avoided speaking on any demand for grant paving way for the government to get approved all the proposed demands for grants.

The House approved Rs170,399,536,000 for Cabinet Division, Rs9,737,873,000 for CADD, Rs444,258,000 for Ministry of Climate Change, Rs5,703,643,000 for Commerce, Rs6,298,196,000 for Communications, Rs 556,657,134,000 for Defense, Rs2,554,146,000 for Defense Production, Rs68,822,829,000 for Economic Affairs and Statistics, Rs 962,914,448,000 for Finance, Revenue, Planning and Development, Rs12,606,867,000 for Foreign Affairs, Rs5,466,459,000 for Housing and Works, Rs303,505,000 for Human Resource Development, Rs270,804,000 for Human Rights, Rs1,494,265,000 for Industries, Rs5,609,523,000 for Information and Broadcasting, Rs3,436,452,000 for Information Technology, Rs64,801,358,000 for Interior, Rs1,411,803,000 for Inter-Provincial Coordination and Rs11,377,526,000 for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit and Baltistan.

The House also approved demands worth Rs3,942,134,000 for Law and Justice, Rs1,788,528,000 for Narcotics Control, Rs3,080,717,000 Food Security and Research, Rs208,882,000 for National Harmony, Rs850,376,000 for National Heritage and Integration, Rs439,005,000 for National Regulations and Services, Rs603,831,000 for Overseas Pakistanis, Rs245,655,000 for Parliamentary Affairs, Rs946,120,000 for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Rs861,674,000 for Ports and Shipping, Rs12,911,734,000 for Postal Services, Rs108,993,000 for Privatization, Rs71,868,000 for Production, Rs3,947,709,000 for Professional and Technical Training, Rs70,553,079,000 for Railways, Rs635,849,000 for Religious Affairs, Rs5,403,510,000 for Science and Technology, Rs34,145,436,000 for SAFRON, Rs333,079,000 for Textile Industry, Rs45,620,337,000 for Water and Power and Rs63,5264,000 for National Assembly and Senate.
