The Met Office on Tuesday issued an alert about gusty winds up to 30 nautical miles an hour may strike Karachi until Thursday. It said the gusty winds between 25 nautical miles and 30 nautical miles are expected to blow from west-southwest across the metropolis from Tuesday through May 28.
"Due to the large pressure difference between accentuated heat low over South Pakistan and high-pressure areas over the North Arabian Sea, strong winds from West / Southwest with 20-25 kts speed gusting to 30kts are likely to blow over Karachi from today to 28th May 2020," the Met alert said.
Weather in the next two days is likely to remain hot and humid despite the strong winds in the city with humidity up to 70 percent in the morning hours and 60 percent in the evening.
On Wednesday: Hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while very hot in central and southern parts. However, isolated dust-raising winds thunderstorm with light rain is likely in Kashmir, south Punjab and north-east Balochistan during the afternoon and the evening.
In the last 24 hours: Hot and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country. The maximum temperature was recorded in Jaccobabad and Moinjodaro 50 degrees Celsius, Dadu, Shaheed Banazirabad, Larkana, Padidan and Bhakkar 49, each. "Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country," the Met said.
