The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday further eased lockdown and allowed conditional plying of public transport in the province from tomorrow (Monday). However, general public holiday was extended end of the current month (May 31, 2020).

This was announced by Advisor to KP CM on Information Ajmal Khan Wazir while briefing media here in Information Cell at Civil Secretariat. He said that petrol pumps and CNG stations were allowed round-the-clock operation.

He said that all relaxations in lockdown had been made in consultations with federal government during a meeting of the Provincial Task Force against coronavirus.

The advisor said that all public transport would be restored from Monday (tomorrow) and all Divisional Commissioners and Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) would jointly frame SOPs for the purpose while district administration, transport authorities and transporters would have to guarantee the implementation of those SOPs.

He said that keeping in view situation in the area, Divisional Commissioners would open specified routes within the jurisdiction of his division while decision on opening transport on intra-district and inter-district routes would also be taken by him.

He further said that routes that were passing through different divisions would be decided at provincial level. He said that after relaxation of ban on public transport, they would have to charge fares on the basis of the newly announced fares framed in wake of cut in the rates of oil.

The Advisor on Information announced that barbers and beauty salons shops in the province would adhere to standing operation procedures (SOPs) to remain open three days a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) till 4:00pm. He said all necessary services including hair cutting, shaving and other would be available in those shops. But, they would have to avoid other unnecessary services.

The barbers and salons would be required for keeping special focus on cleanliness and both service providers and customers would have to wash hands and ensure the use of face masks and for this purpose they will have to guarantee the provision of soap and sanitizers at their shops.

He said that barbers and salons will also guarantee to avoid crowding, maintain social distancing and no one will be allowed to sit in the waiting room of their shops. They will also have to clean their equipments through sanitizers and keep doors and windows of their shops opened and disinfection of their chair and other furniture while the use of towel has been banned completely.

Ajmal Wazir attributed relaxation in lockdown to mitigate the hardships of the people and keep the wheel of economy in movement. He said the government was fighting at two fronts at a time. One fight is against coronavirus and the second is against poverty.

Regarding current corona situation, the advisor said that 255 new cases had been reported during last 24 hours reaching the tally of patients in the province to 5,678. Seven deaths have also been recorded due to corona that climbed the number of deaths to 291. 108 patients have also been recovered in one day that reached the number of recovered persons 1,623.
