The Karachi Port handled 119,306 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,329 tonnes of import cargo and 39,977 tonnes of export cargo including 7,877 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 79,329 tonnes comprised of 50,769 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,693 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,367 tonnes of canola; 000 tonnes of chemical and 17,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 39,977 tonnes comprised of 39,727 tonnes of containerised cargo; 250 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,877 containers comprising of 4,002 containers of import and 3,875 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 946 of 20's and 1,410 of 40's loaded while 08 of 20's and 114 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 962 of 20's and 898 of 40's loaded containers while 347 of 20's and 385 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely Coral Schulte carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. MSC Sabrina, Telemann, Cosco Rotterdam, Crimson Queen, Yong Sheng and Magnnolia carrying containers, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Coral Star and Magnnolia carrying containers and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Thursday while two more ships namely MSC Sabrina and Cosco Rotterdam carrying containers are expected to sail on Friday.

There are four vessels viz. MOL Globe, Ubena, Fortitude and Ocean Peace-8 carrying containers, chemical and steel scrap respectively due to arrive on Thursday while six more vessels viz. Northern Discovery, MT Lahore, Ginga Caracal, Oriental Lotus, Ru Yi Song and Mermaid Star carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and mill scale respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 152,107 tonnes comprising of 127,887 tonnes of import cargo and 24,220 tonnes of export cargo including 2,320 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 127,887 tonnes includes 32,913 tonnes of coal; 41,667 tonnes of LNG; 20,000 tonnes of palm oil; 7,348 tonnes of soyabean; 2,829 tonnes of palm kernel; 800 tonnes of LPG and 20,330 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 24,220 tonnes includes 470 tonnes of rice and 23,750 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,320 containers comprising of 1,070 containers import and 1,250 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Lucky Sea and Al-Khattiya carrying rice and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely MOL Globe, Maersk Kensington, Tisntao Express, White Purl and Able Sailor carrying containers, LPG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of fourteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, mogas, Palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Magnum Power, Great Comfort, BBC Forever, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, Theka Schulte, Celia, Gas Amazon, Epic Manhattan, Tomson Gas, Hoegh Gallant and Horizon carrying coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Maersk Bentonville, Athenian, Magnum Power and Horizon carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were three ships namely Maersk Bentonville, Athenian and Thorsky carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely APL Savannah carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
