"What's a smart lockdown?"

"Hey don't go to the mosque, you aren't allowed."

"I don't get you! What does my asking what a smart lockdown is have to do with my not being allowed to go to a mosque?"

"The older generation has no idea about what is smart? The young have all heard of smart phone and smart TV and as you clearly have not, you belong to the older generation and The Khan has decreed that over 50s are not allowed in mosques so if you don't know what smart is then you are over 50 and not allowed to go to the mosque."

"The Khan isn't under 50 either!"

"No he isn't and need I inform you that if you have a smart phone or a smart TV you can access all kinds of information on these gadgets."

"But a smart lockdown doesn't refer to any gadgets right?"

"Right but all decisions taken by The Khan with respect to containing the spread of Coronavirus while at the same time ensuring that the daily wagers have jobs and don't go hungry are being referred to as smart lock down."

"So by definition what the Chinese did was what? Stupid lockdown?"

"No, no and again no, the Chinese engaged in a smart lockdown based on their resources and capacity - they had the capacity to ensure that no one went hungry and..."

"Ah yes indeed but Pakistani doctors are saying that the smart lockdown is perhaps not that smart!"

"That's the dratted PPP using influence to get the Karachi doctors..."

"And what about the Punjab and KP doctors? Didn't they say the same thing!"

"That's the work of Shahbaz Sharif engaged in trying to embarrass the government enough to make a comeback deal and..."

"Oh dear here we go again! So anyone who challenges any decision of the government..."

"Has been egged on by the opposition and don't forget the PPP is in power in Sindh notwithstanding the fact that it lost badly in Karachi and the PML-N won Lahore, hang on the party won the maximum number of Punjab assembly seats but the PTI did a...did a..."

"Zardari or Nawaz Sharif!"

"Ha ha, and that is what smart politics is!"
