The government will give the required and need-based training to prime minister's Corona Relief Tigers (CRT) force to selected volunteers in order to ensure provision of relief goods to the poor and needy.

A senior official of Ministry of Youth Affairs said that more than 843,022 youth have so far got themselves registered in prime minister's CRT force through the Pakistan Citizen Portal. The district administration will train CRT force's volunteers on how to take care of themselves while undertaking their duties, adding the volunteers who will be sent to quarantine centers will be provided protective kits as per requirement.

He said that the ministry has started selection of youth from the registered volunteers who will then be attached to the district administrations and the remaining will be kept as reserve force.

"The total number of volunteers from Punjab is 558,203, 127,964 from Sindh, 118,616 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,867 from Balochistan, 12,296 from Islamabad, 9,571 from Azad Kashmir and 4,710 from Gilgit-Baltistan", he said, adding that the volunteers who joined CRT force include significant number of women, doctors and paramedics as well.

He said that the registration for CRT force was kick started on March 31 and continued till April 15. The CRT force will work in coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and district administrations, the official said.

The official said that the deserving people should register themselves on the Citizen Portal or send a message at 5555, along with their name, Union Council and number of family members.

Once registered, their scrutiny will be done through NADRA and after the verification process is completed, the members of CRT force will deliver relief goods directly at the residence of the deserving people.

He said that the volunteers will also assist the police and local administration in creating awareness campaigns, quarantine management, implementing lockdown and would also identify hoarders and those involved in price hike.

The official said that government is going to set up the CRT committees at district, Teshil and union council level. The CRT district committees included deputy commissioners, district police officers, MNAs, district social welfare officers, district health officers, representative of local government department, district education officers and some locals.
