(Karachi) In wake of the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown situation, the Sindh government has directed private schools across the province to pay full salaries to its teachers on time and barred them from laying off their non-teaching staff.

In a notification issued on Monday, the provincial government also directed schools to issue monthly fee challans instead of the usual bi-monthly or quarterly challans.

The circular stated that those educational institutions found violating the law will face strict action from the authorities.

The government had extended the school holidays till March 31 due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the province. So far, 1,625 confirmed cases of the virus have been reported across the country while 18 people have lost their lives. Besides, 29 people have recovered from the deadly disease.
